Absolute Poker and UltimateBet, two online gaming sites that have each been embroiled in significant scandals that rocked the online poker community over the past year, will join together on a new poker platform—the CEREUS network. I could not have made this one up. The announcement was made by the management of both companies on July 24, 2008. CEREUS will integrate the customers and features of both poker sites to make one large network. Upon completing the merger, they claim CEREUS will be the third largest online poker network, presumably in the league of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. The companies note that they’ve been jointly developing CEREUS for more than a year, and though UB and AP will continue to maintain separate names and brand qualities, all players will be members of the same network that will offer more tournaments, features, and promotions.
